Balance
A presentation on the treatment options and pathology of low back pain would cover the underlying causes and mechanisms of the condition, such as disc degeneration, muscle strain, and nerve compression. It would also explore the variety of treatment approaches, from conservative methods like physical therapy and medication to more advanced interventions such as injections and surgery. The presentation would emphasize the importance of a tailored approach, considering factors like the severity of pain, patient history, and response to previous treatments, to achieve the best outcomes for individuals suffering from this common condition.
Frozen Shoulder
Adhesive Capsulitis, or frozen shoulder, impacts more than 200,000 people in the United States annually, especially those over the age of 40. Frozen shoulder is characterized by progressive loss of shoulder range of motion. Patients often present with increased pain while sleeping or when reaching behind their back. While frozen shoulder can improve with time, physical therapy is a key intervention in restoring range of motion. Unfortunately, frozen shoulder can often begin without an apparent cause, especially in certain demographics or those with a diagnosis of Diabetes. Please join us as we discuss time lines for healing, physical therapy interventions, medical interventions, and what to expect following a diagnosis of adhesive capsulitis.
Return to Sport Measures
This presentation focuses on the importance of return-to-sport screening for patients recovering from injury. It highlights key assessments, such as the Y Balance Test, Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and strength testing, to evaluate readiness for safe sport participation including recreational sports like pickleball and golf. The Y Balance Test assesses dynamic balance and stability, while the FMS screens for movement dysfunctions that could lead to injury. Strength testing helps determine if the patient has regained sufficient muscle strength to perform sport-specific activities safely. Together, these tools help clinicians make evidence-based decisions about when it's safe for patients to return to their sport, minimizing the risk of re-injury.
Plantar Fasciitis
This presentation on plantar fasciitis will explain the condition, which involves inflammation of the plantar fascia, often caused by repetitive strain or overuse. We’ll discuss conservative treatment options like rest, stretching, ice, anti-inflammatory medications, and orthotics. Footwear plays a key role in managing the condition, so we'll highlight the importance of shoes with good arch support, cushioning, and firm soles, while advising against flat shoes or high heels. Early intervention and proper care can prevent long-term pain and complications.
